It is very stressful to consider entering your loved one into a Senior Living Facility. This means it is even harder to think about some of the most important questions when choosing the perfect facility for your loved one. Knowing the most information about each place is important as you want to be sure that you make the best decision for your loved one.
Remember the following questions when looking into Senior Living Facilities:
How are care levels determined?
How do you determine a resident’s care plan?/Do you offer personalized and individual treatments?
Does the facility have an onsite rehabilitation department?
Can family and friends visit at any time?/What are the current restrictions with visitations, and how can we meet with our loved one during COVID?
Can residents make choices about their daily routine?
Does the company regularly train employees on some hot issues: abuse prevention, safety, wounds, fall prevention, etc.?
How does the community meet the resident’s needs as they change over time?
Do doctors visit the residents? How often?
What is the staff to resident ratio?
What are the dining options? Do you have an onsite dietician?
Do the community’s current residents seem well cared for?
Does the facility have an onsite hair salon?
What types of activities are offered, and how often are activities offered?
Does the facility have a security system?
Has the facility won any awards?
When deciding where your loved one will live temporarily or permanently, make sure that everyone who needs to be involved is involved. If you are able, visit the facility in person or request a virtual visit with someone in the admissions department. Take all the necessary initiatives to find the perfect new home for them.
Even with the COVID pandemic, Christ the King Manor is accepting new residents. We are very cautious every day with our employees and residents who enter our building. Our Activities Team works hard every day to conduct virtual visits through iPads and Visit Box Visits located on our patio.
